Why Consider eBay Walmart Integration?

Walmart.com has been a part of the physical Walmart brand for many years, but it wasn’t until 2009 when Walmart Marketplace officially launched. Among other things, this created the option for sellers to place their products on the Walmart.com website to sit alongside brands already sold by the retail giant that is Walmart. Years later, Walmart Marketplace has thousands of sellers in a variety of categories ranging from electronics to clothing and beyond.

In 2020 alone, Walmart.com saw growth of 79%, and that percentage will likely continue to grow. Online shopping continues to grow more popular, and Walmart Marketplace is consistently making changes to offer a better experience for sellers and customers alike.

Benefits of Using Walmart Marketplace

Sellers already using eBay might wonder why expanding to another platform is useful. Regardless of which marketplace you add to your sales strategy, you’ll typically find additional customers, the potential for extra sales, and more specific benefits based on your choice. Walmart Marketplace offers all of the following when integrated into your sales pipeline.

1. Improved Market Reach

Walmart has huge numbers of product categories and is one of the best-known retailers in the world, which means it is a popular shopping destination for buyers. The site sees around 120 million monthly unique visitors, all of whom could choose to buy things that you sell. When you leverage this traffic, your products will be seen by additional people who may not use eBay.

There’s another benefit here because Walmart has created a curated seller community. Being approved to sell items requires proof that you offer high-quality products and include top-of-the-line customer service. Since not everyone is authorized to sell on the platform, your listings will have more visibility, and you’ll be alongside other professional, dedicated sellers offering the best.

2. Pay Only for Sales

Many customers know Walmart for its low prices, which also holds true for sellers. When using Walmart Marketplace, the pricing structure is simple and straightforward without monthly fees or setup fees. The only time you pay is when you complete a purchase, and the cost is a simple referral fee. These vary based on category but average about 15%. However, some categories have fees as low as 8%.

3. Innovative Selling Tools

Partnering with a major retailer like Walmart also provides access to innovative solutions to grow your eCommerce business. The platform offers various advertising options, advanced listing tools, and excellent shipping programs that can help boost your conversions over what you already sell on eBay and other platforms. The Walmart Marketplace also offers analytics to help you make appropriate business decisions now and in the future.

Applying to Sell on Walmart Marketplace

Now that you know what benefits you get for integrating eBay and Walmart, you’ll need to apply to sell on Walmart Marketplace. This isn’t an overly complicated process, but it is more in-depth than selling on some eBay alternatives.

1. Start the Application Process

The process of requesting to sell on Walmart Marketplace will take only a few minutes if all your information is ready. The requirements include the following:

  • History of eCommerce or marketplace success
  • U.S Business Tax ID
  • A catalog that contains no Walmart Prohibited Products
  • W8 or W9 and an EIN Verification Letter from the Department of the Treasury verifying your place of operations or business address
  • Primary categories of products, size of the catalog, and similar information
  • Chosen integration method such as API, bulk upload, or solution provider (you can select SureDone as your solution provider during this step – we offer one of the most advanced Walmart integrations in the multichannel e-commerce software space)/li>

The more information you can provide, the less time the process will take. If there’s a need to work with Walmart Marketplace to fill in application gaps, that can add additional time to the process.

2. Finish the Registration

There are a few additional steps after being approved for Walmart Marketplace. You’ll receive an email with a link to register your business, which has steps ranging from account creation to choosing your shipping information.

  • Account Creation
Account creation involves choosing an email and password. This is the information you will use to log into Seller Central, which is similar to the eBay Seller Hub.
  • Walmart Retailer Agreement
The next step is reviewing the Walmart retailer agreement, which is a legal document all sellers must sign. This document includes all the terms and conditions that sellers accept before moving forward.
  • Company Registration
The third step is registering the company by creating a display name and corporate address. The display name is what customers will see while shopping, while the address is used for internal needs.
  • Tax Forms
Sellers must fill out a W9 for taxes. This requires submitting your name, address, and Taxpayer Identification Number.
  • Payment Information
Walmart Marketplace has partnered with Hyperwallet and Payoneer for partner payment, so you must be registered with one or the other. If you are a seller with a W-8ECI tax classification, Payoneer is the required option.
  • Shipping Information
Finally, you’ll choose your shipping methods, regions, and pricing model. You can choose from default shipping options like Value, Standard, Expedited, and Next Day. After filling this out, you can later make changes and tweak things using the customizable Shipping Templates.

3. List and Start Selling

The last thing you need to do is list your items and then test orders before you start selling. This is required to create a streamlined experience after customers start adding your items to their carts. List some of your best-selling items first, and be aware that the listings go live after finishing the testing process. If you’re using software to integrate your eBay and Walmart Marketplace, you can often post them on both sites at one time.
